THE MAGYAR CSENDŐR NEWSLETTERA Publication of the Hungarian Gendarme Fraternal Society (Magyar Csendőr Bajtársi Egyesület)Faithfully, Honorably, Valiantly unto Death!![]() ARCHIVES The 44/1991/VIII. 28./AB regulation of the Hungarian Republic Constitution Court allowed the establishment of the Hungarian Gendarme Fraternal Society (Magyar Csendőr Bajtársi Egyesület) for the purpose of restoring the public image of the Hungarian Royal Gendarmerie, the militarily organized law-enforcement organization, which was dissolved for political reasons in 1945, and whose reputation greatly suffered from decades-long aspersions and lies. It wishes to unite those interested in the history of the Hungarian gendarmerie, especially to promote unbiased historical education at the armed forces and law-enforcement organizations. It functions according to the Hungarian Republic Constitution’s 1989/II. law relating to the rights of organizations. It provides its members an official venue to maintain and strengthen their connection to the Hungarian armed forces and organizations, and to increase the respect for the military and law-enforcement profession. It collaborates with other fraternal and gendarmerie organizations both in Hungary (Bajtársi Egyesületek Országos Szövetsége, Polgárszövetség, Nemzetőrség) and abroad, especially with the Hungarian Royal Gendarme Veterans Association (Magyar Királyi Csendőr Bajtársi Közösség) and the Hungarian Veterans Association (Magyar Harcosok Bajtársi Közössége). It supports military and law-enforcement programs of national interest with cultural, research, and exhibit participation. It upholds military traditions, and maintains gravesites and memorials of soldiers and gendarmes who died in the battles of WW-I and II and in the 1956 revolution. It organizes commemorative events for anniversaries at historically important places. It is a non-profit organization, with an independent budget and bank-account. Membership dues and contributions cover its expenses. It remains independent of political parties, not accepting material support from them. The Hungarian Gendarme Fraternal Society protects the rights of its members and helps to meet their cultural, educational, and athletic needs. |
