SZEMERE BERTALAN JOURNALSA Publication of the Szemere Bertalan Hungarian History of Law Enforcement Academic Society(Szemere Bertalan Magyar Rendvédelem-történeti Tudományos Társaság) „With Fidelity to History”![]() ARCHIVES The Law-enforcement History Booklets (Rendvédelem-történeti Füzetek, Acta Praesidii Historiae Ordinis, HU ISSSN 1216-7674) are published by the Szemere Bertalan Hungarian Law-enforcement Historical Academic Society (Szemere Bertalan Magyar Rendvédelem-történeti Tudományos Társaság). The Society’s biannual publication, the Law-enforcement History Newsletter (Rendvédelem-történeti Hírlevél, Nuntiotones Historiae Preasidii Ordinis, HU ISSN 1785-3257) contains operational news of the community. With the right to organize re-established in Hungary in 1990, the Society was created and officially registered with the Capitol Court. Its mission is to search and make public the history of Hungarian law enforcement. Most of its members are university teachers and professors, coworkers of research institutes, as well as officers of law enforcement agencies. Most of the researchers of Hungarian law-enforcement are members of this organization. They discuss their research at several academic meetings held throughout the year. The research results become a part of the curriculum of colleges, law-enforcement, and public administration schools. The yearly-published Law-enforcement History Booklets contain the newest research results in peer-reviewed, academic-quality articles. The book series on “Hungarian Law-enforcement Organizations” reflects this objective historical accuracy without political bias. There have been 15 issues of the Booklets published through 2007, with 239 monographs from the pen of 82 authors. Of these, 46 dealt with the history of gendarmerie.
